One of our favorite bluegrass-gospel songwriters is a man by the name of Ron Block. Over the years we have performed four of his songs (Living Prayer, Faraway Land, There is a Reason & Palm of Your Hand), and it is rare that we do a program that doesn’t feature at least one of his compositions. You might not be familiar with him by name, but if you have spent any time listening to Alison Krauss and Union Station, you have heard his talent on banjo, guitar, and harmony vocals.

Block’s lyrics serve to remind believers of the guidance and protection we have in Christ and the comfort of knowing we are in the palm of His hand, contrasting that with the vain riches the world has to offer. As it says in John 10:28: “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”
