Certainly the oldest song on our album, "Be Thou My Vision" is an ancient Irish hymn written in the Gaelic possibly as far back as the 6th Century. It was finally translated into English in 1905 by Mary Elizabeth Byrne and then versified by Eleanor Hull in 1912.

Our family has always loved this hymn and the truth it contains. We grew up listening to our friends, The Boatrights’, arrangement which they paired with Si Bheag Si Mhor, a lovely Irish melody which is part of the Celtic Medley on our album. They also sang a portion of it in the original Gaelic, which Benjamin does not attempt!

The arrangement we recorded and that you will hear on this recording is our third rendition of the song we have done as a family. You can find an instrumental version on Hannah’s CD, A Time to Fiddle. When our oldest brother, Daniel, was with the band, he sang a progressive Celtic arrangement, and when he left, Benjamin rearranged it yet again. Here is "Be Thou My Vision".
