Field Behind the Plow - Another Season's Promise
"Field Behind the Plow" was written by Canadian singer-songwriter Stan Rogers. If you aren’t familiar with him, we recommend you look him up. He had an amazing talent for painting pictures with words. Stan died at the young age of 34, but left behind a legacy of great folk music. Field Behind the Plow came out just two years before his death. Its tale of the joys and challenges of farm life is special to us, as our grandma and her brother come from a long line of farmers.
This song also provided the title for our album—from a line in the third verse, which likens the planting of seed to putting “another season’s promise in the ground”. We found it an appropriate reminder of the way seasons change and the promise of harvest that comes with planting good seed.
